CJ Logistics Transportation is seeking a highly skilled and motivated Manager, Account Management to oversee and lead a team of Account Managers in a fast-paced freight brokerage environment. Reporting to the Director of Brokerage, this position is responsible for developing and maintaining strong relationships with key clients, ensuring the efficient execution of all logistics operations, and driving customer satisfaction and retention. The ideal candidate brings a deep understanding of freight and logistics, exceptional leadership capabilities, and a customer-centric approach to build high-performing teams and grow top-line account revenue.

We anticipate this role to pay a base salary of $75,000 to $85,000 per year, but actual base pay will depend on the successful candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience.  This role is also eligible for an quarterly performance incentive plan.

  • Schedule: Ability to work a flexible schedule; typically your schedule will be 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (flexible hours may be required to support after-hours, weekends, or holidays when needed).

  • Location: This position works a hybrid schedule out of our corporate office in Des Plaines, IL, requiring regular on-site presence four (4) days per week.

What You'll Do:

  • Team Leadership & Development: Lead, coach, and mentor a team of Account Managers to achieve individual and team goals. Provide guidance, performance reviews, and professional development while training the team on best practices, client communication, and industry trends.

  • Client Relationship Management: Manage and nurture relationships with key clients, serving as the primary escalation point for high-value accounts. Proactively resolve client concerns and deliver tailored solutions to meet freight and logistics needs.

  • Account Optimization: Collaborate with operations, sales, and customer service teams to deliver best-in-class service. Analyze account performance to improve service levels, reduce costs, increase profitability, and manage SLAs, on-time delivery, and customer feedback.

  • Process Improvement & Efficiency: Identify opportunities to streamline account management processes and improve customer experience. Implement best practices and operational workflows with operations to boost productivity and ensure compliance.

  • Sales Support & Business Growth: Partner with sales to drive new business opportunities, expand existing accounts, support contract negotiations/renewals, and identify upselling/cross-selling avenues.

  • Reporting & Analytics: Monitor and report performance metrics to senior leadership while leveraging data and analytics to uncover trends, resolve operational issues, and drive continuous improvement.

What You Bring to the Table:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (or equivalent work experience). Minimum 5+ years of experience in account management, client services, or freight brokerage, with at least 2 years in a leadership role.

  • Account Expertise: Proven track record managing large, complex accounts in freight, transportation, or third-party logistics (3PL) environments.

  • Leadership & Communication: Exceptional leadership, team management, interpersonal, and negotiation skills with a demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and build long-term relationships.  Ensure customer satisfaction by addressing concerns, resolving issues, and delivering exceptional service, utilizing Kakao Talk or other communication methods.  

  • Bilingual Skills: Fluency in Korean is required.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficient in freight brokerage software, CRM tools, Microsoft Office Suite, and Transportation Management Systems (TMS) or ERP software.

  • Analytical Mindset: Strong problem-solving and analytical capability to interpret operational data and make informed decisions in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.

  • Industry & Certification Plus: Solid knowledge of transportation logistics, freight forwarding, and supply chain practices. Professional certifications (e.g., CLM, SCMP) are a plus.

  • Office Environment Readiness: Ability to perform in a sedentary office setting—sitting at a desk, operating computer equipment/phones, and occasionally lifting up to 10 pounds.
